Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana

This scheme with an objective of addressing housing needs in the rural areas aims at providing a pucca house, with basic amenities, to all houseless households and households living in kutcha and dilapidated house, by 2024 with a minimum unit (house) of 25 sq. m including a dedicated area for hygienic cooking. The programme was initiated from 2016-2017 financial year and since then it is successfully running in all the districts of the state. A Permanent wait list (PWL) was prepared from Socio-Economic Caste Census 2011 data. The beneficiaries of the programme are selected from the PWL. The whole implementation process and selection of beneficiary is done through an online software-based MIS system named AwaasSoft. The unit assistance for each beneficiary is 1.2 lakhs and 1.3 lakhs for difficult areas. There is provision of 90/95 person days of unskilled labour wage under MGNREGA for construction of house, over and above the unit assistance. The unit cost (house) assistance is shared between central and state governments in the ratio of 60:40. The unit assistance (fund) is being disbursed to the beneficiaries in 3 instalments i.e 1stinstalment: Rs. 60,000/- 2nd instalment: Rs. 50,000/- and 3rd instalment: Rs. 10,000/- and for IAP districts /difficulties areas it is Rs. 60,000/- 2nd instalment: Rs. 60,000/- and 3rd instalment: Rs. 10,000/-.

Rural Massion training programme also implemented under the Pradhan Mantri Awass Yojana Gramin to address the fill in the gap of availability of trained mason in rural areas.

Till date West Bengal has given sanction to 45, 69, 400 beneficiaries out of which 34, 11, 538 number of houses have already been completed. Till date West Bengal has trained 26, 260 rural mason.

Till now West Bengal provided maximum number of pucca houses to rural population, under this scheme.
